"Perfect for a romantic escape..."Jamaica Review
Sara Santini and Andrea Difilippo, co-authors of the blog Pretty Little London, headed to Sandals South Coast in beautiful Jamaica, for a romantic escape.
Take a look at their review of the trip below.
Sandals Resorts offer luxury Caribbean all-inclusive holidays, by delighting couples in love with supreme holiday packages at luxury resorts in St. Lucia, Jamaica, Antigua, the Bahamas, Grenada and Barbados, featuring gourmet candlelit dining for two, gorgeous tropical settings and some of the world’s most exquisite beaches, perfect for weddings and honeymoons.

As most of you probably know, we absolutely love the Christmas period in London. The streets are filled with beautiful lights and there is a sort of competition for who sets up the most beautiful Christmas tree. There is one downside though: December can be a pretty cold month and that is why we couldn’t wait to visit Sandals South Coast.
We had never been to Jamaica or to the Caribbean, therefore we were really excited to finally visit this beautiful part of the world.
We arrived at Montego Bay airport after a 9 hour flight and were greeted to the Sandals lounge, where our driver was waiting for us. Our luxury transfer was really pleasant and relaxing as John had brought us some dinner and drinks!
We arrived late at night and were shown to our temporary room, before being escorted the next morning to our over the water bungalow.
The Over the Water Villas
After the huge success of debuting the Caribbean’s first-ever Over-the-Water Villas in Jamaica and then 12 additional Over-the-Water Bungalows at Sandals Royal Caribbean, Sandals Resorts has recently announced twelve new Over the Water Honeymoon Butler Bungalows at Sandals South Coast.
Guests who stay in the Bungalows receive exclusive inclusions such as, in-room dining and room service menu, personal airport greeting, expedited immigration, private luxury transfers and beautiful welcomes gifts. Every bungalow features the height of luxury with hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings and spa-style bathrooms equipped with his and hers sinks. Outside, the guest’s private patio is equipped with an extended sun deck, outdoor shower, sun loungers, and a bistro set for two, where you can admire the ocean while soaking in the Tranquility Soaking Tub!
As you have probably noticed by now, these rooms are absolutely insane! Also, our lovely butler Kimberly was available 24h for our requests, which meant we could order from our gourmet menu any time we wanted (and we did!).
Kimberly also arranged breakfast for us every morning, booked our spa treatment (which was sooo relaxing by the way!), helped us with our photoshoots and set-up our candlelight dinner. She basically did everything!
The resorted features 9 different restaurants and they all served different types of food. You could treat yourself to lobster, pizza, pasta, sushi or some jerk chicken, depending on what you fancy. Our personal favourite was the Sushi on the Sand restaurant, where the staff was lovely and the food even better.
Also, we never missed the chance to go for a Cosmo and a Mohito on the over the water bar, the atmosphere was so vibrant and the cocktails were delicious.
The resort is also packed with cats and kittens! So, if you are a cat lover like ourselves, you will probably spend half of your time playing with the kittens and petting these lovely felines, they are the sweetest cats ever!
The Pelican Bar
Sandals South Coast has many really interesting excursions that you can do while staying in the resort. We asked Kimberly for suggestions and she really recommended visiting the Pelican Bar.
The Pelican bar is one of the coolest bars in the world. A local fisherman named Floyd was dreaming of building a bar on the sandbar he would go to every day to clean his fish. Every day on that sandbar, he would see fishermen passing by while going to the Black River and decided to build a bar for them. Of course, everyone thought he was nuts, but today tourists from all over the world visit this bar on a daily basis.
We reached the bar after a 1h 30m trip on a catamaran, where we were treated to food and drinks and to some jazzy music from a local DJ. The bar was incredible. You could order some food and drinks while swimming in the crystal clear water and could have your name graven on the bar’s wooden surface. One thing you need to remember is to bring some US Dollars, they do not accept card in the middle of the ocean!
Our first experience in the Caribbean with Sandals Resorts was definitely positive. The luxury service was absolutely spot on, from the airport transfers to the incredible butler service.
The resort seems to be made especially for couples and is perfect either for a romantic escape or an unforgettable honeymoon.
The sunset candlelight dinner is a uniquely romantic setting, where couples can enjoy a full VIP treatment with a dedicated private waiter, who will cater to your every culinary whim.
Last but not least, the crystal clear water and white sand make you feel as if you have landed straight into paradise, perfect if like us you are escaping from a bitter cold British winter.
Thank you Sandals UK for the lovely experience, we will see each other again soon!
